Success in raising duck of Korn Chear family

Cambodia the one country depending on agriculture fields, 80 % of Cambodia people are farmer, away of the agriculture villager all way raising chickens, duck , pigs, … and cow to extension income for livelihood. For instance:
Korn Chear 58, widow with 3 sons, live in Kampong Speu province Cambodia, her husband was died from her for many years ago. After Korn family has acknowledge some technique in agriculture like how to raising duck, natural medical and how to mix the feed (rick husk, less rice and sugar palm mix together) she observed that duck are grow up quick, healthy and no died by sickness and her raising are very well in the village. Jus t 4-5 month from the first time the duck could be selling at less 25 USD and after she could be selling in monthly by easily: she said with positive face.
She added that: right now she raising amount 40 ducks, the duck able make her family have existence living, have adequate food (rice), when she get he illness she could take the revenue from duck raising to pay of treatment but if no duck she have to borrow some money from neighborhood and she almost said duck is the life of her family living if no it her living will be stay in hunger again.
Beforehand her livelihood very difficult, inadequate food and money to pay for treatment when illness, she have to do serious work like clam the tree gather the leaf, find crabs, fish and planting rice for stomach, although she does a lot but the profit still limited for livelihood, if she doesn’t do a day so that time she no some thing for stomach, and she has raising a few duck ( 4-5) to generate income for her family but her raise no advantage she have to spend 7-8 month just could harvest ( sell duck) and one time she could sell get profit 15-20 only and the duck often died a lot from sickness, in totally her raising just kid raising. So the profit earn from duck she couldn’t afford her living. But when SSF arrived her village, her family are change a lot of, before do a lot works for rice but right now just raising duck and other works a little could have enough food for family.
Future she still to run this raising because think that duck is the life of her family living, if no duck her family will be stay in hunger again and other hand i too older so could do any thing than raising duck, she said.

Rin Aek family with seven children is one among other families within this village that they began their home-grown garden since the well was established. This family has been selected to be demo family in community under encouraging and supporting from SSF Foundation. Our team had supported this family like agriculture technique, capital to build the water tank (1.5m x 3m x 1m ) Rin could grow vegetable every month very well with his water tank, although have only one pump well in his community.
His family could be earn the profit from growing vegetable amount 2.5-5 USD per day by his wife take vegetable to self by her self at the market (Kampong Speu Province) that works has bring his family have better living, sufficient vegetable for daily consumption by don’t need to spend on vegetable or something and his child could go to school with some money pocket “he said with smiling face and acknowledge to SSF”.
He added that previously his family couldn’t grow vegetable regular in the dry season he could grow some months and he could be earn some profit just 2 USD per day only, sometime nothing. So his family living in difficult condition, deficient daily food for eating and in his growing he have to gather water at less 100-200 container per day to irrigate vegetable, so he have to do weighty works every day for stomach and his wife always try to work hard together but the family living still in deficient.
In the future Rin still carry on his growing, he keen to expand growing and raising fish in the water tank, chickens as well. He hope that if he could get more knowledge about to do so and capital to expand water tank, so his family will be more better and could be let his community to follow.
